Workplace Safety Manager II

This course is designed to build upon the learning from Workplace Safety Management I.

This course will teach students how modern organisations rely on complex technologies to perform effectively. Because of the complexity of modern workplace systems, significant damage can result to humans, equipment and the environment when things go wrong. Participants on this course will learn how the control of the way humans interact with the workplace system is vital for safety.

Combining formal lectures and discussions, Workplace Safety Manager PART 2 will give you the skills, confidence and qualifications to:

  • Define human error and how this could influence risk and risk takers.
  • Analyse situations in an organisation which could results in loss.
  • Differentiate behaviour which is acceptable in terms of risk and loss. List, in terms of probability and impact, the risks an organisation undertakes.
  • Illustrate how communication of risk has two components.
  • Explain how organisations which are made of individuals can be protected from accident occurrence.
  • Define what a safety culture is and how it can be implemented in an organisation.
  • Describe what is meant by ethical foundations and ethical decision making.
  • Demonstrate that safety is based on professionalism.
  • Describe how organisations can support employees who are working at home to protect their wellbeing and provide psychosocial network.

Timing

The course will be delivered over five days with 30 hours of lectures. Students will need to complete a written examination within a week of completion. They will also need to complete 70 hours of additional work and submit a relevant project within six weeks of the written examination.
