05 Jun SOLAS training update
Preparations for the reactivation of Safe Pass, CSCS and QSCS Courses
4 June 2020
SOLAS has now issued guidelines to all Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) and Safe Pass instructors for the reactivation of Safe Pass courses. SOLAS has also issued new Standard Operating Procedures Pandemic Guidelines and COVID-19 Verification Form.
The guidelines are intended to safeguard the wellbeing and safety of persons attended national construction courses (Safe Pass, CSCS and QSCS courses) and the approved training organisation staff and tutors providing the courses.
Key points from the new Standard Operating Procedures Pandemic Guidelines include:
- The number of people attending a Safe Pass, CSCS or QSCS course must not exceed 10 people in order to ensure compliance with the minimum 2 metre social distancing requirement within a classroom setting.
- The duration of a Safe Pass course has been temporarily reduced to lessen the amount of time time participants need to spend within a training environment. The exact duration has not been specified.
- As a result of the reduced training time, Safe Pass cards will only be valid for 12 months.
- The duration of CSCS and QSCS course and assessment activities remains unchanged.
