Remote Working Guidance

Remote Working Guidance

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has recently published a new website section dedicated to remote working. Guidance and advice is available on all aspects of remote working, in addition to several key resources such as the HSA’s new Working from Home Guidelines.

The Government’s National Remote Working Strategy aims to ensure that remote working is a permanent feature of the Irish workplace and will change the nature of where, how and when people work.

Remote working as an agreed arrangement between employer and employee, needs to be planned for, in order to work well for both. You will find guidance and information on the HSA’s remote working webpage to help you plan for working remotely as well as information on responsibilities under safety, health and welfare law. It is important to distinguish between working from home on a temporary basis (e.g. during the COVID-19 pandemic), and, the requirement for a planned approach for an on-going remote working arrangement. You will find guidance and information on both.

The Remote Working webpage includes sections on:

  • Working from home
  • Ergonomics
  • Remote Working Stress
  • Further Information
