Regulations Update: Outdoor Noise Emissions

Peter Burke, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, has signed the European Communities (Noise Emission by Equipment for Use Outdoors) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, which implement Directive (EU) 2024/2839.These Regulations amend the European Communities (Noise Emission by Equipment for Use Outdoors) Regulations 2001 (S.I. No. 632 of 2001) to give effect to Directive (EU) 2024/2839 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2024.

Directive (EU) 2024/2839 introduces changes to certain reporting requirements under Directive 2000/14/EC concerning noise emission by equipment for use outdoors.

The purpose of these Regulations is to update certain reporting requirements in the field of noise emission by equipment for use outdoors, in line with the changes introduced by Directive (EU) 2024/2839.

These Regulations implement those changes by revoking paragraphs (2) and (4) of Regulation 8 of the 2001 Regulations.
