National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) is running a half day workshop on Temporary Traffic Management at Roadworks: Latest Standards in Athlone, Cork, Dublin and Sligo.

Temporary Traffic Management at Roadworks: Latest Standards is a half day workshop running from 09.30hrs to 13.00hrs, organised by National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO).

Note: This half day training seminar is not a replacement for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and/or SOLAS 3-day Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks training. However, the seminar will be good refresher training for those who have already completed their SOLAS 3-day training and are looking to keep their knowledge up to date.

Seminar Overview / Who Should Attend?
There are major changes effecting temporary traffic management standards in Ireland. In June 2017, the Department of Transport initiated a major consultation with the sector on a new operations document. This will have a significant impact on existing temporary management design standards and training. Any organisation working on or near roads will be impacted by these changes.
This seminar is relevant to any organisation working on or near public roads. Such work includes:

• building and maintaining roads and footpaths
• road openings for utilities and services
• working on, above or under roads as part of your activities.

This includes local authorities, consultants and contractors.

Certificate of Attendance:
Participants who have successfully completed the training will be issued with a NISO certificate of attendance.
There is no assessment but active participation is required.

Seminar Speaker:
Charlie Kerr (BE CEng MIEI)

Charlie is a professional and nationally recognised engineer with solid design, management and operational experience in road asset management, traffic management and health and safety. He is the managing director at Tobar Segais, a consultancy firm engaged by the Department of Transport, large consultants and contractors on new standards development and innovative projects. Charlie holds the unique position of being a principle member of every group on national standards for traffic management at roadworks

• He is currently working on the operations document for Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual for the Department of Transport.
• He has worked on both editions of “Guidelines for the Control of Traffic at Roadworks” for Department of Transport, LGMA and endorsed by HSA.
• Charlie has contributed to revisions and advise notes on Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
• He has contributed to revisions on regulation 97 of the Construction Regulations 2006 for working on roads, and HSA Working on Roads Guidelines.
• Charlie is fully qualified in all aspects of traffic management (planning, design and operations) with experience in identifying training needs and provision of training programmes across 31 local authorities and the private sector for technical and operational staff.
• He was the project lead of the nationally recognised Planning and Design of Traffic Management Course for both low speed and high speed roads.
• He was also the project lead for the nationally recognised Traffic Management Operations Courses for Motorways, including Static Operations, Mobile Operations, IPV Driver, and Supervisor.
• Charlie was the lead author and subject matter expert for CSCS Signing Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks and the CSCS Health and Safety at Roadworks and other Traffic management courses, including Temporary Traffic Signals and Stop Go Operator.
