Seminar Outline

Navigating Return To Work Planning For Absent Employees is a morning seminar running from 09.30hrs to 12.00hrs, organised by National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) in conjunction with Connect4Work.

This seminar will explore the challenges faced by employers and employees alike when there is a risk of absence to Stay-At or Return-To work after an absence.
With a focus on proactive planning and risk management, participants will explore strategies to ensure that returning employees can safely reintegrate into the workplace effectively while minimising the risk of injury or reoccurrence of absence.

Topics for exploration will cover:
1. Why return to work planning is important for employee safety
2. What happens when it is not done properly
3. The impact on health and safety on colleagues when an absence occurs
4. Disclosure and Reasonable Accommodations
5. Retention of staff – how to achieve it and support employees to Stay-At work
6. Case Studies for break out discussion groups
7. Safety Considerations

Mary Finn, Founder, Connect4Work
Work has been a constant throughout Mary’s adult life – it is an important part of her identity, just like it is for most people. Whilst working on a short-term program supporting people back to work after an absence, Mary witnessed the many challenges that can arise, since then, she has dedicated herself growing her pioneering initiative; Connect4Work.

Mary is a highly accomplished professional and as a Certified Disability Management Professional, she is committed to excellence by maintaining annual certification, staying at the forefront of industry standards and best practices. Her deep interest in vocational rehabilitation (VR) led her to assume the role of Irish Coordinator for the VRA UK/Irl where she hosts two webinars each month, covering a diverse range of VR related topics.

In her pursuit of new learning opportunities and continuous professional development, in 2023 Mary completed programs in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Management as well as Disability Awareness Studies.
Mary loves to collaborate with organisations and deliver customized training programs on a wide range of topics, all with a central focus on promoting inclusion in the workplace. She has been a speaker at numerous events, sharing her experiences and addressing critical topics related to disability, accessibility, health, and well-being in the workplace.

The impact of her work was recognized with the 2023 Galway Chamber Business Award in the Accessibility, Diversity & Inclusion Category.
