National Level

At the national level as a NISO member you:

  • Belong to an Irish, independent, self-funded organisation with charitable status.
  • Belong to an organisation that works to help you promote health, safety and welfare at work in your organisation.
  • Have one vote to elect members on the Executive Committee at the AGM.
  • Have a voice as NISO represents its membership when it holds regular meetings with the government, the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), Ibec and other stakeholders working to better Health and Safety practices.
  • Receive a membership certificate to display in your office.
  • Obtain the right to use NISO Member Logo on your documents, website and other publications.
  • Keep abreast of issues and developments in health and safety including best practice and guidance.
  • Receive regularly and directly in your inbox a digest listing the latest legislation, guidance documents and news.
  • Receive a copy of the quarterly e-magazine, NISO Update, directly in your inbox.
  • Receive the e-newsletter, the Safety Observer, which contains the most up to date health and safety information – eight editions per year.
  • Have access to the archive of NISO Update magazine.

Regional Level

At the regional level you:

  • Further your standing amongst health and safety professionals;

Types of Membership

Membership of NISO is open to any organisation or individual that wants to show its commitment to and who works towards the continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Welfare at Work in Ireland.
One person within the member organisation is the nominated point of contact.
Subscription to membership is on a yearly basis and carries worthwhile advantages
There are different types of membership organised in categories based on the number of employees:

  • Corporate 100+

    Corporate Membership for 100+ employees.

  • Corporate 50-99

    Corporate Membership for 50 to 99 employees

  • Corporate 10-49

    Corporate Membership for 10 to 49 employees

  • Corporate 1-9

  • Corporate membership for 1 to 9 employees

  • Student

  • Student of a full time educational course or a part-time Health and Safety course

How to Become a Member

The process to become a member is simple:

  • Decide who is going to represent your organisation if there is more than one person employed;
  • Decide which category or type of membership your organisation falls into according to the number of employees in your organisation (i.e. if you are a self employed person, your category is 1-9 employees; if there are 120 employees then the category is Corporate 100+);
  • Become a member online
  • If you don’t want to join online, you can  download the NISO Membership Brochure  and download NISO Logo Ts&Cs;
  • Fill in both forms and sign them;
  • Send them to us with your payment (students need to send in proof of their status) to NISO, A11 Calmount Park, Ballymount, Dublin 12;
  • Once the documents and payment are received, we’ll process your application and send out your NISO Membership pack, including your Membership Certificate, via an Post;
  • We’ll send you the NISO Member logos by email (once the Ts&Cs have been signed and returned to us);
  • Your membership will be submitted to the Executive Committee for ratification.
