Occupational First Aid Courses

Please Note:

From the 31st May 2018 the Health and Safety Authority will only recognise PHECC approved Occupational First Aid training in Ireland. The Authority states it will continue dual recognition of the QQI SN1207 and PHECC FAR standard up to May 31st 2018.

From the 31st May 2018 First Aid Response Education and Training Standard (FAR) is the new minimum Occupational First Aid qualification for all workplace first aiders.

To the question: “Do I need a qualified first aider in my workplace?’

The Health and Safety Authority replies that: “A risk assessment in the context of the Safety Statement should consider the numbers employed, the nature of the work, the degree of hazard, the level of accidents arising, the size and location of the workplace, the distribution of the employees, shift working, availability of an occupational health service with the workplace and the distance and duration from external medical services etc.”

An Occupational First aider can treat a minor cut such as a paper cut or a life threatening injury.  A life can be saved!
