Speakers:
Michael McDonagh, Policy Manager, Health and Safety Authority
Michael Mc Donagh is a Senior Inspector with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA). Michael has been involved in construction inspections and accident investigations with the HSA for 15 years. For the past 8 years Michael has managed the Construction, Fire and Work at Height Policy Unit. The unit is responsible for reviewing and developing legislation, Codes of Practice, guidance and other initiatives to help promote safety in the sector. Michael represents the Authority on various national committees including the Construction Safety Partnership Advisory Committee, the SOLAS Stakeholder Oversight Group and Construction Industry Advisory Group and the HSA/Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland cross border safety committee.

Michael is the Irish co-ordinator for the EU Senior Labour Inspectors Committee (SLIC) Knowledge Sharing Site (KSS).

Michael is also the nominated Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation’s representative on the Board of the Construction Industry Register of Ireland (CIRI).

Des Brandon, Managing Director, Brandon Agencies
Des Brandon is the Managing Director of Brandon Agencies – a specialist work at height company. Des is a member of a European Standards Committee (CEN) for fall protection equipment. He has over 25 years’ experience in safety at height and related issues.
