Seminar Overview / Who Should Attend?
There are major changes effecting temporary traffic management standards in Ireland. In June 2017, the Department of Transport initiated a major consultation with the sector on a new operations document. This will have a significant impact on existing temporary management design standards and training. Any organisation working on or near roads will be impacted by these changes.
This seminar is relevant to any organisation working on or near public roads. Such work includes:

  • building and maintaining roads and footpaths
  • road openings for utilities and services
  • working on, above or under roads as part of your activities.

This includes local authorities, consultants and contractors.

Seminar Outcomes
Managers, job planners, engineers, safety staff and supervisors within those organisations will be given practical advice on:

  1. Managing risks associated with temporary traffic management within the organisation’s safety management system and at work sites on the ground.
  2. Identifying appropriate controls and proper assignment of responsibilities.
  3. Systems of control
    1. Standard plans & layouts: how to ensure they are applied correctly to specific sites
    2. Site specific plans
    3. Job packs: What do you operatives need to ensure they can do the job safety?
  4. Planning & design of roadworks in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
  5. How to deploy temporary traffic management safely and the implications of the new operations guidance document.
