European Safety Week

European Safety Week

National Irish Safety Organisations supports European Safety Week

The European Week for Safety and Health takes place from 24-28 November 2016.

The theme for 2016-7 is “Healthy Workplaces for all Ages”.

Held each year in October (calendar week 43), the European Week for Safety and Health at Work is a key focus of every Healthy Workplaces Campaign. With hundreds of awareness-raising events taking place across Europe and beyond, it is the ideal time to get involved in the campaign. For example, you can take part in conferences, exhibitions, competitions, training sessions and activities.
If you have an awareness-raising activity in mind, then the European Week could be the perfect time to hold it.

Workplace health and safety is good for business, for workers and for society as a whole. Every year more than 5,000 people lose their lives in the EU as a result of accidents in the workplace according to Eurostat. A great many of these lives could be saved and many thousands of other injuries prevented if risks were anticipated and sensible safety measures implemented.
