10 May EU-OSHA Public Consultation
The European Commission has begun a public consultation about the performance of these four EU agencies:
- theEuropean Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA)
- theEuropean Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound)
- theEuropean Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop)
- theEuropean Training Foundation (ETF)
All citizens and public and private organisations are invited to comment, and EU-OSHA asked its stakeholders during 2011-2016 to provide their opinions on the work and usefulness of the agency and propose new ideas for the future. The online survey for registering comments is available until July 5, 2017.
The public consultation aims to gather new ideas for the future of the agencies, including governance issues and comparing alternative policy options. The survey asks, for example, about whether EU-OSHA has achieved its objective of providing technical, scientific, legal, and economic information and qualified expertise on new and emerging occupational safety and health risks and has raised awareness about OSH risks and their prevention; it also asks what EU-OSHA could do differently to better fulfill its goals and achieve a greater beneficial impact.
When it asks whether the agency’s work is efficient, it shows that EU-OSHA has around 66 staffers and an annual budget of 16.7 million.
