National Irish Safety Organisation – Occupational Health and Safety Bursary Award 2026/2027

The National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) is pleased to invite applications for the Occupational Health and Safety Bursary Award 2026/2027.

The purpose of the OHS Bursary Award is to encourage the participation and success of students from under-represented groups entering higher education who are interested in pursuing careers in occupational health and safety. Under-represented groups include students who are marginalised or inadequately represented in universities due to factors like poverty, disadvantage, discrimination or lack of access to resources.

The award is intended to support students from under-represented groups who have received a college offer to study for an occupational health and safety undergraduate degree from an Irish university with whom the Higher Education Authority works.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, NISO is offering:

  • two bursary awards at BSc level valued at €1,500 per annum
  • two bursary awards at Master’s level valued at €2,500 per annum.

The bursary awards are intended to support students throughout the duration of their undergraduate programme, subject to continued funding and satisfactory academic progress. In addition, NISO will provide the awardee access to its professional events and information resources. NISO will also endeavour to provide mentorship opportunities with industry professionals.
