New Construction Regulations 2013

The New Construction Regulations came into effect on August 1st.  Delegates attending this seminar will hear the main changes to the regulations and the impacts that these changes will have on them.

A full and comprehensive review has been carried out on the current Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Construction Regulations 2006 to 2010, to identify revisions and reduce the regulatory and administrative burdens imposed on all clients in construction while not diminishing workplace health and safety standards.

The purpose of these regulations is to prescribe the main requirements for the protection of the safety, health and welfare of persons working on construction sites and to give further effect to Council Directive 92/57/EEC (the Directive) on the minimum safety and health requirements at temporary or mobile construction sites.

Speakers:

Paraig Earley, Inspector, Health and Safety Authority [Sligo and Dublin seminar]
Paraig is an inspector with the Health and Safety Authority who is involved in developing the new Construction Regulations. He will outline the requirement of this new Regulation and how it differs from the 2006 Regulations. He will also address other construction issues.

Dermot Carey, Head of Safety Services, Construction Industry Federation [Sligo seminar]
Dermot has worked for the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) for over 13 years and also is a board member of the Health and Safety Authority since 2007.

Robert Butler, Executive: Safety & Training Services / Scheme Manager, Construction Industry Federation [Dublin seminar]
Robert Butler joined the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) as an Executive in the Safety Services Directorate in November 2007 and in his current role he represents member companies on health and safety issues. He now heads up the CIF Training & Development Department which is providing IOSH & FETAC accredited programmes for the wider construction sector. Robert is the current chairperson of the IOSH Construction Specialist section and also sits on the Construction Advisory Committee of the Health & Safety Authority. Robert has many years of experience in safety industry as prior to joining CIF his previous role was as Director for Safety with Employment & Safety Associates. He holds a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health as well as a Diploma in Environmental Impact Management Assessment from University College Dublin. Robert is also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
